fido's got nothing on us

I had surgery.

That was my first response when The Parent Bloggers Network asked what my family plans to do differently in 2008 to live a healthier.

Going under the knife. That's step one.

I needed this surgery.

And now I know I can spend 2008 relatively pain free.

I'll have the energy to chase A. And that means I'll be able to take a proactive role in setting a good example.

Recovering from surgery, I'm moving at a crawl's pace.

I walked to the mailbox yesterday and cheered.

But as I get stronger, not only do I want to hit the gym more.

I am now insisting that T, A, and I take a walk after dinner each night. I want us to take our overweight dog with us as well.

Our black lab will arrive home from the walk parched and will inevitably drink a bowl of water.

I want A to increase her water intake too. I want her hydrated.

No to fruit juices. Yes to water.

Our pooch will have nothing on us. She'll have to keep up with our family instead of the other way around.

The walks and H2O seem like such small changes.

But they do put our family on the path to a healthier lifestyle.

PBN is giving away $50 gift cards to Kroger this week.

And while there is not a store by the Yellow House. There is a store by L, my sister.

So if I win a $50 gift card, I wouldn't donate it to charity. I'd make sure L would eat for another week. And I'd make L walk with our family to earn it :)

On the path -- that makes so much sense. Getting healthier is a process, not a magic moment. Good luck!
